Structure and reactivity of surfaces

Chemical Thermodynamics and kinetics, Inorganic chemistry, basics of physico-chemistry of interfaces



Objective

Description of surface structures of metals and oxides, Miller indexation, chemisorption and physisorption, ordered structures. Dynamics of adsorption and desorption.Programmed thermodesorption. Stability of metals. Formation of a new phase (basics of nucleation and growth processes). Double layer theory and electrified interfaces (electrode-solution, colloids)
